CAS Club Hosts Women in Leadership Seminar

This new CAS club aims to inspire women in STEM-related fields, including engineering…

The new Bangkok Patana CAS club, SWEnext (affiliated with the Society of Women Engineers), co-hosted a Women in Leadership seminar in collaboration with other SWEnext Chapters across Thailand in celebration of Women’s History Month. SWEnext aims to empower and uplift women and young girls in the STEM field. Through the sharing of experiences from four esteemed guest speakers, the event’s purpose was to inspire young girls to reach for their dreams and to give advice on overcoming future challenges in their respective career paths.

The event kicked off with an online presentation from the CEO of Kasikorn Bank, Khun Kattiya Indaravijaya,  who shared valuable words of wisdom on reaching the pinnacle of finance. Next, Khun Shannon Kalayanamitr, CEO of 5G Catalyst Technologies, gave students an exclusive insight into the mind of a successful entrepreneur, touching on the various challenges she had overcome and stressing the importance of perseverance in success. This was followed by a student-led interview of corporate superstar Khun June, CEO of Grab and Harvard graduate, who delved into the concept of a ‘higher purpose’ and revealed the key to the success of the Grab application. Lastly, mechanical engineer Khun Yuwanun Sripraprutchai shared how she pushed gender boundaries in order to flourish in the male-dominated field of engineering.

Students in attendance were also able to participate in various Q&A sessions with the panellists, giving them the opportunity to ask personalised questions and interact with the esteemed speakers. With over 100+ participants, both online and in person, the event was a tremendous success. This SWEnext conference was able to help share the guest speakers’ wisdom to students and parents from all over Bangkok. From Bangkok Patana, Ms Roshanak Lashkari accompanied five students to the on-site seminar at NIST international school, all of whom were incredibly impressed and inspired by the speaker’s experiences.

“We are incredibly grateful that we were able to plan and be part of such an inspiring event. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible!” – Gem Ninsuvannakul and Sonya Pang, co-presidents of Bangkok Patana SWEnext.
