It has been great to have most of 1C back in school this week, and what a fabulous week it has been!
We have been learning about Celebrations and will be doing some research about the many different Celebrations there are.
The children came up with a list of celebrations they knew about such as:
Birthday's Christmas Weddings Easter Being Born Valentine's Day Songkran
New Year Chinese New Year Halloween Christenings Loy Krathong Lantern Festival
Mother's Day
Father's Day
Children's Day
Grandma's Day, Pet's Day?? Some where a bit dubious!
We first spoke about what we know about these celebrations then tried to pose some questions about what we would like to find out.
Some of the questions we are looking at are:
1) What celebrations do we know about?
2) Why does my family celebrate special occassions?
3) How do we celebrate these special occassions?
4) How is my family's celebration of events different to other people?
