Dear Maths Group,

In your home learning books there is a sheet which I would like you to complete in your books.

I have set a myimaths task. Can I multiple and divide by 10 and 100? This is optional, but would it would be very useful practise.

This game will help plac value (the value of differnet digits in numbers). It includes decimal numbers. It is important to understand what the digits in decimal numbers represent so that you can successful when calculating with them. We will be learning about this later in the week. If you play this game and are not sure about decimal numbers there is an option to play without decimals.

I love the article about a 100 Billion dollar space station can be saved by a 3 dollar toothbrush.

5B PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU BRING IN YOUR INDEPENDENT READING BOOK AND YOUR READING DIAIRES TOMORROW. PUT THEM IN YOUR SCHOOL BAG AS SOON AS YOU FINISH READING TONIGHT.

Your home learning tonight to practise using connectives when you write sentences. It is very important to be able to use connectives when you write because they let you add more meaning to your sentences and make your writing more interesting.

Click on this link for the connective activities.

http://www.patana.ac.th/UploadCentre/Staff/BEHA/Connectives_1.pdf

Please complete Task 1 and 2 in your literacy home learning books. I want you to rewrite the sentences in your book, not just fill in the sheet. Please use your neatest handwriting (joined if you can).

Task 3 is optional. Another optional writing task:

Write 100 word story (it could be about anything) including the connectives: because, despite, however, although, after that, since. Post it as a blog comment.

When the Earth touched the sun

All was well in the town of Maple. People were having picnics; kids were playing in the parks and the birds chirped in the trees. While everybody else was having fun the Astronauts were not. Because deep in space, despite the fact they were having fun, the astronauts were shocked. The earth was moving slowly towards the hot, burning SUN! They immediately called base. They decided to keep it top secret however. There was a computer spy at that base and he posted on spacebook that the earth was getting closer to the sun. Word spread quickly and people got very scared. Although the birds didn’t do anything. Then things got very hot until the EARTH TOUCHED THE SUN! The earth then caught fire! After that everybody went in rockets and lived on mars and have lived happily since! ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺

WOW Jack I love it! There is a clear plot, it is funny and you have used the connectives very effectively. Well done! One thing, when we write we never start a sentence with because.

Artur’s Story

Not so long ago in a galaxy closely closely located to us there was a planet named HOMOMOTAR. In a big country, in a big city, in a big house there lived a rich Martian name RAUL. He was a billionaire because he was good in playing poker. Every woman loved him despite he was ugly. However he didn’t mind about any of his looks or the girls. He only cared about his SPACEBATTI the best car in the galaxy. Although he also cared about the beautiful princess MICLARINDA. So one day he decided to give here a visit to her palace. After that he took the princess to the space bar. Suddenly a paparrazzi came to the room and took some pictures of them. The next day RAUL woke up, looked at the spacepaper same as every body else since that none of the girls loved him but the princes did even more and they all lived happily ever after.

Well done Artur, excellent, I loved reading this. A great Space celeb story (what are their celebrty magazines called I wonder - Stardust?). You used connectives very effectively. One thing - it readds like you have rushed the last sentence a little.
