4H Leaping into Learning
This week in Year Four we have been looking at exactly what learning means to the children as well as thinking about the IB Learner Profile and what attributes the children in 4H think they bring to their learning. They were asked to consider this and then fill in this form:
My Learner Profile
I strive to be:
The words below are called attributes and the statements explain what the words means. When reading, begin with ‘I strive to be……..’ |
Grading system. Marks out of 10? Stars? You decide. |
An inquirer I am curious; I like to find things out by myself. I like learning. |
Knowledgeable I like to explore ideas and learn more about things that interest me. |
A Thinker I use my thinking skills to recognise problems and make thoughtful decisions. |
A Communicator I express ideas confidently. I can communicate in more than one language. I work well with others. |
Principled I am honest and fair. I respect others. I take responsibility for my own actions and any consequences. |
Open Minded I try to understand other cultures and values. I am willing to listen to different points of view. |
Caring I care about the needs and the feelings of others. I show concern for the environment. I try to make a positive difference. |
A Risk Taker I approach the unfamiliar with courage. I will try out new things. I will defend my own point of view. |
Balanced I try to balance my activities. I like to do things that exercise my brain, my body and my emotions. |
Reflective I think about my own learning and my own experiences. I try to be honest about my personal strengths and limitations. I look back as well as forward. |
Perhaps your child would like to share their thoughts on this with you.
I am very happy with the way the class are working and coming together as a unit. We have played some team bonding drama games which have also encouraged the children to express themselves, breaking down those initial barriers of shyness amongst new class mates.
We have also worked on adding a splash of colour to the room!

I will end with some great quotes about learning from 4H
"Learning makes it easier when you grow up"
"Good teamwork leads to brilliant learning!"
"Learning makes you feel smart and proud"
"Learning to me is getting to know something in a fun way"
Learning is the best treasure"
"Learning makes me feel great!"
Learning is for life"
Have a good weekend
Mr. H.
