Christmas ICT Activities
As promised 1S ... here are some of the websites that Mr. Mac has been using with you in your ICT lessons. Enjoy!
I like the Christmas Tree best. It's fun to decorate!

The day finally arrived, after weeks of preparation, for our "Celebration Expo" - where we could share all of the knowledge we had learnt about Halloween and Christmas with the rest of the Year Group.
The process started all those weeks ago when we had a wonderful morning with Mums and Dads who came into the classroom to share their expertise about things that they celebrate as a family. The children have since then been working independently and in small groups to research and record the information they have found out into different formats of presentation - leaflets, booklets, posters, pamphlets, books and models. Today they gathered all of their bits and pieces together and laid them out on tables ready for their visitors, labelled them and then spoke about them when the rest of the children from the Year Group arrived to ask questions and to look at what they had made. We had a fabulous afternoon! :)
The build up ...

We are ready ...

The event itself ... sharing our expertise!

Did we succeed - well, according to the children's definitions they think that they did!! They feel that they could look at their statements and answer 'yes' to each one ... if that is so, well done 1S. You are indeed experts.
An 'Expert', according to 1S, is:
1. So good at something that you can tell people about it.
2. Very smart.
3. Someone who can teach other people.
Well done, we all had a super time.
Mr. M.
Great job! Anton got back and told me that he was the expert of Xmas! How smart!

This easy to use website from Patana's Link and Learn section, helps the children to recognise the currency used in Thailand. It can also be used to practise adding and taking away with money, seeing how many coins and/or notes make up certain amounts and to see how many different ways they can make the same total. We looked at this today and the children are already very good at it ... let's hope they continue to be so at home!!

Cross the Swamp Maths Game
This is a lovely number game where the children need to help the monkey get across the swamp without being snapped at by the crocodile, using their number skills. There are different levels to challenge them and different operations to use when they are confident enough to try. Enjoy escaping from the hungry crocodiles by collecting the delicious bananas! :)

Phonic Games
The children asked me if I would post a game on our blog as they had enjoyed it in class - however, I have found that the game they liked is actually part of a selection ... so I have posted them all! I hope they enjoy them.
Time - in all its glory!
We have been learning about time over the past week - short periods of time (like seconds, minutes and hours) and long periods of time (like days, weeks, months and years). We have sung songs and played games which have been a lot of fun. One of the websites that is useful for this skill is ready for you to use below. The first one is useful to see how far the hands move when certain units of time are added, the second is good for practising o'clock and half past and the third one adds in quarter to and quarter past. Have fun!
