The Children's Own Celebration Posters
Following on from the information posters that the children made with their parents, they have been using their learning to help them create their own. They have chosen their own celebration that they would like to find out more about and then used a variety of sources (computers, books and other people) to get the information they wanted. They have managed to use lots of different non-fiction poster aspects:
- Heading (title)
- Body text (main piece of writing)
- Text box
- Photographs
- Captions (to go with the photographs)
- Illustrations
- Labels (to go with the illustrations and photosgraphs)
Enjoy!

I like the work 1S did well done. :)

1S are now linked with Class 1J and their teacher, Miss Laura Jessop, at Meadowbank Primary School in the UK. The school is close to Stockport, which in turn is close to Manchester. They have sent over a teddy bear which we will be sending home with the children soon. Also, they will bring a book home with them so they can write about the things that they do with the teddy (we have yet to choose a name yet!) as well as putting photos in as well. The children are very excited!
The school looks like this from the sky:

... and the class are here:

We are sending a Patana Elephant to England in the post in a big box, along with a book for Miss Jessop's children to take home and write things in as well. It will be fun to keep in touch. :)
Hello 1S!
We have received the Patana elephant and love him already. We have decided to call him Humphrey. So far he has been home with Taeo, Keira and Adam and had a great time. All of us will have a turn taking Humphrey home and we can't wait!
We hope Manchester Ted is having fun with you all, we're sure he is!
Speak soon,
Love 1J.
Celebration Posters
Tuesday 15th November.
As a part of our "Let's Celebrate" theme, we had a wonderful group of Mum's come and visit and help us this morning to create our own very special celebration posters.
The children worked in pairs (and 1 three) and put together a poster of their choice, using the knowledge of our resident experts for the morning! They had to see if they could use various aspects of a non-fiction piece of work: Headings (Titles), Body text (main pieces of information writing), text boxes, captions, labels, photographs and illustrations (pictures).
The children also had to try and answer some questions along the way: Why do we have the celebration? When do we have the celebration? What food is eaten? What clothes are worn? What music is played and listened too? Is there any dancing? What decorations are put up? What games are played?
As you can imagine, there was a lot of discussion and discovery throughout the session and the posters that they made were a testament to the hard work and enthusiasm that everyone had for the challenge! :)
Please enjoy the photos that were taken:

I really enjoyed making the celebration poster. All of the posters were so beautiful :)
