Moving-up Morning!
The children had a wonderful time with Mr. Sean this morning and came back all excited about going up to Year 2 when they return in August. I am looking forward to spending a lovely last week with 1S, but I am definitely going to miss them all! :)
Mr. M.
Year 1 Thai Temple Maths Fair - 11.06.10.
On Friday morning, the whole of the year group set up a Temple Maths Fair where the children were able to show off all the maths work they had been doing over the past week. The children had been learning how to play lots of different kinds of maths games - to do with a wide range of mathematical skills. Number, weight, mass, capacity, co-ordinates, time, money and many more variations! They then devised their own games which they had to make, write rules about, draw advertising posters for and organise for others to play.
The morning was a great success. Everyone was able to play many different games that had been invented by other children in the year group, spending their money as they went. The event was linked with the Buddhism topic we have been following and was also a fund raiser for the Baan Dada Children's Orphanage, which Year 1 are supporting this year.
We had many parents with us, who had braved the warm conditions to come and support their children and their friends. Thank you very much for coming.
By the end of the Fair, we had managed to raise the wonderful sum of over 7,700 Baht - a fantastic end to a very enjoyable experience for the children.

Visit to Wat Kra Tum - 08.06.10.
1S enjoyed their Temple trip and all of the activities that they took part in. We were able to put everybody's names onto a roof tile, which will be used somewhere in the Temple. We fed the fish and folded a lotus flower's petals as well as sketching some beautiful Buddha statues. Lastly, we lit candles and incense sticks and then rubbed gold leaf onto some large Buddha statues. It was a fascinating trip, which complemented our topic on Buddhism and followed on from the Monks visit from last week. Many thanks to all of the Mums who came along and helped us for the morning, your help was invaluable!

At the beginning!

Coming to the end!

Monks Visit to Year 1
We were lucky to have some Monks visit us on Thursday 3rd June. We were able to offer alms and make merit. The children were wonderful and enjoyed the occasion. It was lovely that they were able to experience a part of the routine that Monks follow every day.

Great photos! Looks like a wonderful learning experience for everyone.
