New vocabulary for the children to learn and use
The children were introduced to some new vocabulary today, which we will be using at various times throughout our daily lessons. They are linked to the way in which the children's work is marked and the IB Learner Profile, which will help the children grow and develop as individuals and as a class. Please take some time to have a read of the words and perhaps talk to the children about what they mean - the more we reinforce them the better the children will understand them and think about what they are doing and learning ... everywhere!
Tickled Pink - this relates to some great work the children have done; it will be marked with a pink highlighter.
Room to grow - this relates to the improvements that can be made to a piece of work, marked with a green highlighter.
Principled - children know what is right and fair
Reflective - children know what they did well and what they can improve on (and how)
Knowledgeable - children have explored the world around them
Caring - children think about other people's needs and feelings
Balanced - children have a healthy body and mind
Communicators - children know how to tell their ideas
Inquirers - children ask questions and want to learn new things
Open-minded - children respect different ideas and beliefs
Thinkers - children decide how to solve problems
Risk Takers - children are not afraid to try new things
We went through the words this morning as the laminated posters went up at the end of last week - the children were very interested to know what they were and listened well. The words and terms will be used from now on and hopefully the children will become more aware of their meanings as we use them.
Many thanks.
Mr. M.
Ben thinks that he is a good communicator and very open - minded.
