Cat Weatherill - Storyteller

Published Tuesday, April 22, 2014.
Last updated: Tuesday, April 22, 2014

The children were given a special treat today by our visiting author and storyteller, Cat Weatherill. They were wonderfully entertained and enthralled by her storytelling and songs, and were drawn in by the way in which they were told and the way in which they were involved in them. It was a great experience.

Listening to the story about Misha the bear ...

Pulling the turnip out of the ground.

Joining in with the actions ...

Singing the "Turnip" song.

It was wonderful to see the children back today, full of energy after their holidays. We are looking forward to an exciting term of learning and special events (Swimming Gala and the Sleepover to mention but two!) as we move onwards to the end of the year ...

Please enjoy the water safety video that the swimming team put together at the end of last term.

Songkran Assembly

Published Friday, April 11, 2014.
Last updated: Friday, April 11, 2014

On the last day of term, all of the children from the Primary School got together in the Sports Hall to celebrate Songkran. It was an assembly organised by our wonderful Thai department, but ultimately it was run for the children by the children; it was a great occasion to be a part of. Some of the children from 2S took part in the drama, which was enacted to teach us all a little more about the festival and why it takes place. Other Year 2 children also took part in the dancing and the acting - they all did an excellent job!

Have a fabulous Songkran and I look forward to seeing all of the children again on Monday 21st April for the first day of Term 3.

Kind regards,

Mr. M.

Happy Songkran, from 2S

The Primary School looking forward to the Assembly ...

The stage - ready for the children to share their knowledge about Songkran.

The KS2 MCs ...

Our Year 2 stars!

Traditional Thai music.

The blessing to wash away the old and welcome in the new ...

Songkran Splash Day!

Published Tuesday, April 01, 2014.
Last updated: Tuesday, April 01, 2014

The children had a wonderful time celebrating Songkran by liberally splashing water on as many people as they could with an assortment of different squirting devices!! They did not stop running around, laughing and talking as they went, from the moment we arrived at the field to the moment we left. One of their favourite activities was the dunk tank, where their friends had to throw a basketball at a target to try and make the plank fall into the water, dunking whoever was sitting on it. The whole experience was a great start to our last week of term and we are looking forward to the end of the week when we get to celebrate again at our Primary School Songkran Assembly.
