K2L: Welcome to K2L!

Erupting volcanoes in K2L?

Published Tuesday, February 07, 2012.

We are really enjoying our Science Discovery topic and today, we carried out two experiments!

Did you know that by mixing different household items together, you can create a chemical reaction which looks like a very small erupting volcano? It was so much fun and really easy to do. Lots of the children have asked me to put this on our blog so that they can try it out at home with you.

So, I am going to give you a list of things you will need. Your child will be able to show and tell you what to do.  There are photos attached which may help!

You will need:

  • white vinegar
  • liquid soap
  • food colouring (red)
  • sodium bicarbonate (baking soda
  • an empty  plastic bottle
  • some card

Please tell us how you get on!

Wow! Mya is desperate to try this at home. We might not be as brave as you and do it in the garden!
