6K: Learning for Life

Monday 31st October

Published Sunday, October 30, 2011.
Last updated: Monday, October 31, 2011

Good morning everyone! I hope you had a restful, enjoyable and DRY weekend.

You should be able to access your MyMaths online activities today. You will have further activities set on Thursday morning. Please email if you are unsure of the school login and password or your personal details. I am able to help.

We have set you an Exciting Writing task for the beginning of this week. We would like you produce a descriptive piece of writing. Please choose one of the folowing three pictures:

Iceland

Mexico

Slot Canyons

and describe it using the checklist below.  Use your senses to help you. Think about what you could see, smell, hear, taste and touch?

Please include:
- Adventurous adjectives
- Superb similes
- Marvellous metaphors
- Awesome alliteration
- Priceless personification
- Cool connectives
- Outstanding openers
- Premium punctuation

Self-assess your piece of writing against the above list and also get somebody else to give you some feedback. Try turning your description into a poem and decorate it.

If possible, please email your learning to me.

Also, Mr O'Shea is putting details of the residential T-shirt design competition onto the Year 6 main page. Please have a go at this too.

Have a great week. I will update the 6K blog on Thursday morning and in the meantime, if you have any questions - please ask.

Thanks

Mrs Kelly

PS Why not test your intelligence with Mr Tyer's exciting quiz?

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all well. It is still very dry in Bangna at the moment but the shop shelves are looking sadly empty!

I would like to share with you a wonderful poem written by Hans.

Why Now?!?

Why Now, Why Now?!?

I'm not yet ready!

Why Now, Why Now?!?

Boats aren't that steady!

Why did it have to be today?

I still want to play!

What a bummer day,

I have lots to say.

First I was in a house with a lovely goat,

Now there is a flood and I’m in a dreadful boat!

Where can I go?

Off course I don’t know!

I am really sad

And the flood’s driving me mad!

Red ‘X’ society, where are you!

Come on, you have something to do!

I just always wonder…Why Now!

Please feel free to email me any of your learning. Well done Hans, I was really impressed with your poem. Very emotive.
