This week, our learning focus is the slave trade and civil rights movement. Freedom from slavery, oppression and discrimination was a cause worth fighting for and so we would like to research some of the people who championed this cause.
Please research how one of the following people helped fight for freedom and present your information as a fact file, leaflet or a biography.
- William Wilburforce
- Abraham Lincoln
- Martin Luther King
- John Newton
- William Pitt
- Rosa Parks
- Thomas Clarkson
Connected Learning at Home:
Imagine you are the child of a slave owner, living on a plantation in the West Indies. Although you know your plantation couldn’t run without slave labour, you can see the way the slaves are treated and see it is unfair. You believe slavery should be abolished.
Create an Abolish Slavery poster that could be displayed around the West Indies to try to persuade other people to abolish slavery.
Could you tipe it out on the computer for the Biography?
