4R: Come and look at our learning!

Calling all Cheetahs!

Published Monday, October 31, 2011.
Last updated: Wednesday, November 02, 2011

Good morning Cheetahs,

How are you all?  Thank you for all of your emails.  I have really enjoyed hearing how you are getting on.  Are you enjoying the matrix of activities?  The projects I have received so far have been wonderful and full of imagination and creativity.  Well done, you are all stars!

Please send me an email if you have not got in touch yet just to let me know you are ok and how you are finding the home learning.  I look forward to sharing all of your projects in class when school re-opens.  If you would like to send me photos or any work you have done on the computer please send it as an attachment as it really makes my day!

I hope you are all safe and well and I look forward to seeing all of you again soon.

Miss Rebecca

p.s. here are some samples of your wonderful home learning.  Go Cheetahs!

An inventor needs this IB attributes:

Risk-taker because he has to do dangerous things....

Thinker because he needs to think to invent

more inventions....

Principled because he needs to watch out for dangerous

stuff and do safe things....

Inquirer because they need to learn more

to make more amazing inventions...

Do they need any other attributes and why?  Add your suggestions as a comment.

The Ten Most Useless Inventions

Introducing...the new ipad 10!

Flood has came

Hello day, what a sunny day

But something is different.

A flood came, houses are under water

Boats and rafts are everywhere.

Birds are flying away

Cats and dogs on boats to be safe.

People moving, because of the flood

Say good bye to their loving homes and leave.

Good bye.

THE TOP 10 USELESS INVENTIONS

1. A chocolate kettle.

2. Invisible curtains.

3. Water proof soap.

4. Chocolate fire guard.

5. A sweet rapper wall.

6. Rock hard pillows.

7. Non drying paint.

8. Sugar tooth paste.

9. Very short lasting light bulbs.

10. Water proof soil.

By Joe. X. Frost

Here is another powerful poem from Risako.  What thoughtful and caring writers we have in 4R.

The Floods

It starts with rain,

Then it grows and grows,

It turns into a flood,

The floods flow through the hollow streets slowly and quietly,

Houses damaged and rusted,

Hopelessly waiting for the day the floods would give up,

The floods are evil,

They take your belongings away to somewhere unknown,

With all your favorite things thrown,

You are hopeless,

But once in a while,

A sunny day will come and dry all the water,

And let everyone rejoice at once.

Please please keep sending me emails with your home learning and messages to update how you are getting on.  I love hearing from you and receiving your exciting and creative projects.  I have been so impressed with how hard you have been working from home and that you have been completing projects from all over the world!  What amazing students you are!  Risako is in Japan.  Annabel is in Malaysia.  Kassy is in Singapore.  Are there any other Cheetahs out there communticating across the globe?  What an incredible invention the internet is!  I wonder who invented it...

The Flood

Once upon a time
There was a flood
It made all the people
feel very, very sad

They couldn't go to school
they couldn't go to work
some people went away
some people stayed at home

but all the flood had vanished
when sunny days arrived
its time to help each other
im glad that we survived

Floods and Inventions

Published Wednesday, October 26, 2011.
Last updated: Wednesday, October 26, 2011

We have put together a matrix of activities for the children to undertake during the closure period which can be accessed via the following link:

http://www.patana.ac.th/UploadCentre/Staff/NIGO/Inventions_matrix.docx

YOU can choose a minimum of of these activities to undertake whilst school is closed to ensure you continue learning about our new topic of 'Inventions which changed the World'.  PLEASE bring your projects into school when we reopen for us to share and celebrate.

I will be updating class blogs and checking their emails on a regular basis so if children or parents have any questions / queries or issues about any of these activities please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Here are some useful websites all about inventors and inventions:

Here is a great fact file all about the story of electricity:

http://www.eon-uk.com/mediaFiles/factfile3.swf

Can you think of future inventions that will run on electricity?  What will the ipad 10 look like?  What will it be able to do?

Write your comments on the blog and email me your photos and discoveries!  I look foward to hearing from you.

Miss Rebecca
