The London 2012 Olympic Games will showcase 26 different sports, which break down into 39 disciplines – some sports have more than one type of event. For example, Equestrian is made up of three different disciplines – Dressage, Eventing and Jumping – while Cycling has four: BMX, Mountain Bike, Road and Track.

What can you find out about each sport?

Which of the original sports are still included in the modern Olympics?

Is your favourite sport included in the Olympics?  If not can you find out why?

Who decides which sports will be included in the modern Olympics?

Artistic gymnastics

Artistic gymnastics is when you do a routine with a song. There were about 98 men and 98 women that did artistic gymnastics in the olympics.
