Talk to someone at home about what you know about habitats. What are they? Can you answer some of the key questions above? Explore the websites to find out more and write your thoughts below.
Some threats to habitats are:
deforestation of bamboo.
global warming.
littering.
poisoning and making rivers dirty.
We can protect habitats by:
putting litter in the bin.
stop poaching.
stop cutting down trees.
A habitat is where animals live and it is important that we do everything we can to protect these areas. Some ways we can protect these areas is to :

Looking after the environment by not cutting down too many trees, over developing areas and using sensible design methods.
Not polluting the water ways and over fishing.
Habitats are where plants and animals live. I think its interesting that there are 100’s of different types of habitats.
I picked Taiga habitat to talk about because it also happens to be my cousin’s name! Taiga is also the Russian word for forest. It is also the largest land habitat in the world. It’s a northern zone of forest of Christmas tree type trees (coniferous) stretching right around the planet from Alaska to Siberia! Its important because it filters millions of litres of water everyday and the trees help remove carbon dioxide from the air and change it to oxygen. The biggest threat to taiga is deforestation or people cutting down too many of the trees. Also pollution (people littering and dumping garbage), global warming and forest fires can also be threats to taiga. The best way we can help protect taiga is to recycle more often so we reduce the need for paper and other things that come from the taiga trees so that we don’t have to cut any more trees down.
