二零一二年三月二十七日   星期二

Well done Year 4 Mandarin class!  You have done an excellent job learning about food items.  Here is a list of the words for your home learning:

我想吃wǒxiǎngchī ( I would like to eat).......

饺子 jiǎozi    (dumpling)
汉堡包hànbǎobāo   (hamburger)

冰淇淋 bīngqílín   (ice cream)

面条 miàntiáo   (noodle)
炒饭chǎofàn  (fried rice)

想吃xiǎngchī (would like)

Here are two very easy characters for you to practice at home:

The second number is quite hard because we do not know the order of stroke.

On Thursday can we practice the 2nd character at school together because I don't know what the order of stroke is for the 2nd one.

Yes, Michelle, no problem. We will go over it together. Thank you for putting the effort.

Days of the week

Published Wednesday, March 21, 2012.

Monday is the first day of the week on the Chinese calendar, therefore, "一" comes after "星期"。 In order to say the days of the week, we then  change 一 to 二,三,四,五 and 六 until we come to Sunday, which is 星期天 or 星期日 instead of 星期七。

Remember, there is no 星期七!

二零一二年三月十六日  星期五

Year 4 Mandarin classes have done an excellent job learning the daily routines.  Now they are all able to tell when they wake up, eat lunch and sleep.  Please have a go to tell your parents or parents in Chinese that

1. I wake up at 7:00.

2. I go to school at 8:00

3. I eat lunch at 12:30

If you have forgotten the routines in Chinese, click on the link for revision:

Play the game and see how fast you can match up the words and routines.

Don't forget the sentence pattern here:

Person + Time + Routine

As for your writing, please revise how to write 一二三四五with proper order of strokes.  Follow the stokes we have learned in class.  You all are very good at writing 一二三 already, so this week we will focus on 四 and 五.  We will check our writing on Tuesday, March 20.
