Noche de Brujas vs Día de los Muertos
Today, people in Mexico start celebrating
El Día de los Muertos or The Day of the Dead
What is the difference between La Noche de las Brujas and El Día de los Muertos? How is the Day of the Dead different or similar to Halloween? What Spanish words/phrases have you learnt while working in your team today? Did you like learning about The Day of the Dead? What did you enjoy the most? Write a comment to answer all these questions and try to use Spanish as much as you can.
You can watch these video clips to learn more about this traditional celebration.
Escribiendo mensajes a los amigos de la Señorita Mariela
For the past two weeks, we have been getting messages from all over the world. These are Ms. Mariela's friends who are Spanish-speakers and who live in different countries....
We have been reading these messages; they tell us who these friends are, where they come from, where they live and how they met Ms. Mariela. It was fun to read these messages addressed to us! Also, it was very interesting to read some information about the places where they live!
Therefore, we ALL want to say ..... ¡GRACIAS POR LOS MENSAJES!
We'll soon be writing to you telling you something about us! We will tell you our names, where we come from, where we live, what languages we speak, how old we are, what Bangkok is like, what we like and what we don't!
We will also say goodbye using some of the expressions they taught us in their messages!!!!
¡Adiós! ¡Hasta la próxima! Cariños a todos ¡Suerte! Muchos saludos Besos Abrazos.
El Abecedario, Fecha y Revisión de Animales
This week we have been practising the letters of the alphabet (El Abecedario en español) and we have been using the letters of the alphabet, the days of the week and the months to answer these questions:
¿Cómo se dice “January” en español? Se dice “enero”.
¿Cómo se escribe “enero” en español? Se escribe “E-N-E-R-O”
Note: The letter "V" and "W" change their names due to some differences between Spanish-speaking countries. For example in Spain people say "uve" and "uve doble" and in other Latin American countries people say "ve" and "doble ve". Learn one way and people from any Spanish-speaking country will understand you. :-)
If you need further practice with the letters in Spanish, sing this song Nithilan found on Youtube…
¡GRACIAS NITHILAN POR ENVIARME ESTA CANCIÓN!
Can you answer these questions in a full sentence as a comment?
If you would like a further challenge, learn this poem about how many days there are in each month. Do you think you can learn it by heart? Practise it at home and recite it to me next class.
30 DÍAS TIENE NOVIEMBRE.
CON ABRIL, JUNIO Y SETIEMBRE.
DE 28 SÓLO HAY UNO.
Y LOS DEMÁS DE 31.
Can you find any rhyming words? Which ones?
¡Vamos a jugar!
Let's play a game on days of the weeks and months.
Play this game as often as you can and you'll soon know your days and months in Spanish. Answer the questions as fast as you can but try not to get any penalties. At the end of the game you will be shown your score and awarded a prize monster.
What was your time record?
Also, we have started revising the names of some animals. If you have been at the Choral Festival, this game will help you revise the animals...
¡Adiós! ¡Hasta la próxima semana! ¡Buen fin de semana!
