World Record Holder Vincent Cox Visits our Libraries
We have been very pleased today to welcome Vincent Cox into our library. Vin signed autographs and chatted to the children in both Primary and Secondary School about becoming a world record holder and appearing in the Guinness Book of Records.
Vincent appears in teh Guinness Book of Records 2012 for the male fastest circumnavigation by bicycle. He completed the fastest round-the-world trip by pedal power in 163 days, 6 hours and 58 minutes. Starting and finishing in London, UK, he cycled a distance of 29,331 km and travelled a total of 59,321 kms. What an achievement!
Vin, good luck on your future ventures and do pop back anytime you are passing through on your bicycle and say hello!

Junior Librarians
We are the Bangkok Patana Junior Librarians. This program was introduced to us by Mrs. McDevitt in a Year 6 assembly (is Year 6 only) in Term 2. When we heard about it we thought automatically ‘this would be a great opportunity!’ so we both wrote our applications straight away! 10 students were then picked to be Junior Librarians; we are part of those 10.
The Junior Librarians meet up every Monday break time in the Primary library where they are informed on their weekly duties, and then they get into pairs and choose one lunch time to come to the library to do their job (shelving, reading to KS1 classes, writing blog posts, labelling book genres etc.).
Once we completed this apprenticeship program, we were allowed to train on the circulation desk like a real librarian! See us in action below!
