Have a great week off and enjoy yourselves!
On Thursday, several pupils represented Bangkok Patana as they visited some of the communities worst hit by last year's flood. The event was organised by Mr Hockley and Year 6 was very proudly represented by Angelika. More information should be available in next week's Patana News but for now, well done to Angelika who, as always, impressed those around her with her caring and compassionate nature, prompting Mr Smith (Secondary Principal) to write:
'You showed great commitment, energy, interest and a genuine care for those who have suffered so terribly from the floods here in Thailand... To see you demonstrating great sensitivity and empathy (being able to understand other people’s situations and perspectives) while you are still in Year 6 is wonderful.
Dress up for World Language Day !! Tuesday 21st February 2012
The whole school will be celebrating World Language Day on Tuesday 21st February and we would like to invite all children, staff and parents to come to dress in their national colours or national dress. There will be a whole school assembly from 8:00 am celebrating language and literature.
World Language Day has been celebrated around the world since 2000 and provides an occasion to recognize the vital importance of languages in education and the multilingual and cultural diversity that make up the Bangkok Patana community
We look forward to a colourful display of the 62 nationalities currently attending our school.
Next half term the children will be creating a Memory Book, a wonderful collection of photos and messages to commemorate their time in the primary school of BPS. Each child will have a full page where they can present their own messages in addition to a double page for the whole class. The children should begin to organise their thoughts over the holidays and bring in digital photos (thumb drives or email is probably best) or hard copies of photos/drawing that they would like to display.
Parents - there is an organising committee that is working with the class parents to support each class in the presentation of the Memory Book. 6L doesn't have a class parent, however, if you would like to help organise the 6L section of the book, I would be incredibly grateful. Please email me if you are interested or if you have any questions.
Please remember that Smile Day is on Friday March 9th. I know you are already beginning to hatch devious plots to dress me up but please remember my 'No Lycra' rule!
World Maths Day
Although I have not set any homework for the half term holidays, I would like you all to keep practising on the World Maths Day website. We will be competing during WMD but already, after only 3 days, Mac is 27th in the world rankings and my maths set is 11th and Miss Kerry's Maths set is 8th! Very impressive. Let's keep practising.
