Interclass Tee Ball 2012

 ‘Batter Up, Play Ball’, SHWING!

It’s always an eagerly awaited inter class competition at Patana as Tee ball is a very popular Primary sport.  Our Key Stage 2 students had prepared hard for the event in their PE lessons and were keen to get on with it.  Tee ball is a team sport that encompasses many different skills, therefore allowing all children to participate and contribute to the team’s performance, whether that is; hitting, catching, fielding, communicating or displaying leadership skills, everybody plays a part for the team.

For the first time this year all year groups played at the sports complex across the road, due to an increase in class numbers.  Our year 3 and 4 students were first up and the new venue certainly didn’t put them off.  The field was transformed into a hive of activity and colour with some fantastic Tee ball on display.  The quality of play was very pleasing from both year groups with many examples of “thinking” play. The Year 3 classes play a modified game to help introduce, what is for them, a new sport.

Our Year 5 and 6 students were up next and the standard of play certainly didn’t disappoint.  The quality of batting, fielding and decision making was superb as all the teams tried to outwit their opponents. It’s always very rewarding to witness the great team spirit of our students and how all of their hard work comes together in this environment of friendly competition.

Congratulations to all the classes for taking part in some excellent tournaments.  Listed below are our winners from each year group:

Year Group

Year 3

Year 4

Year 5

Year 6

We would like to thank all members of the Primary PE Department and the Year Group Teams who gave up their valuable time to staff and umpire the events and all those parents who came along to support their children.

Our next inter class event will be the football competition which will be in June.  Keep up the great work everyone and we’ll see you there.

Mr Chris Meller and Khun Patcharee
