Primary Record Breakers 2011
Primary Record Breakers Do Just That!

On Saturday 12th March I was delighted to finally welcome all of those children from Y4, 5 and 6 to a full and unaffected Primary Record Breakers. This was the first one in 4 years not to have been cancelled or to have had at least one age group unable to attend due to various circumstances outside of our control.
The weather was humid but overcast and the 80 children who had answered the call to get times, heights and distances measured over 8 athletic events, were ready. The afternoon began on the track with 60m heats followed by the finals. Great times were posted across the age groups with an amazing 5 out of 6 new sprint records being set. Next was the 600m for Year4 and 800m for Year 5 and 6 with another 2 out of the 6 school records being broken. The event was certainly living up to its name and we were running out of Record Breaker Medals! The children then moved on to their Field Event rotations where they tried all 6 of the field events over 3 hours of hard work and friendly competition. The events mirror those competed in at the Primary FOBISSEA Games and were High Jump, Long Jump, 3 Springs Jump, Tee ball Throw, Quoit Throw and Basketball Chest Pass. Many of these events act as technical stepping stones towards the future event of Javelin, Discus, Shot Putt and the Triple Jump without adding too much strain onto young and developing bodies. A further II Records were broken in the field events setting an amazing final total of 18 new records for this years’ event.
A huge thank you to all of the children who took part and the parents who supported during a very enjoyable afternoon of athletics
The event itself would not have been possible without the many staff and parent volunteers and also a group from Chulalongkorn University who offered their generous services on the day.
Next up is Interclass Tee Ball for everyone in Years 3 to 6 and BISAC Tee Ball (7th May) for those invited from our ever popular Tee Ball ECA.
