Interclass Football 2011
A ‘Mud-nificent Funale’

Not even the rain could put a dampener on our final interclass event of the year. Our Key Stage 2 students have been practising hard in their lessons as the Interclass football is an eagerly awaited event.
The tournament kicked off on Monday when our year 5’s and 6’s took centre stage on some very wet and muddy Patana fields. Each class was divided into girls, boys and mixed teams and played at least 4 matches to see who would enjoy the title of ‘champions’. The students demonstrated some fantastic passing, tackling and shooting skills, which they have been learning in their PE lessons and from the many outside of school opportunities available to them. The students clearly enjoyed the wet conditions and there was some superb football on display.
The following day it was the turn of our year 3 and 4 students. There was to be no letup in the weather as the fields were just as wet and muddy as the day before. Once again there were some outstanding performances especially from our year 3 students who were enjoying their first interclass football event. Each competition was very close with many of the games being decided by penalty shootouts, however, there can be only one winner on the day and the overall results can be seen bellow:

The future of football at Patana certainly looks very bright as there was some excellent football on display. All students deserve much praise for their sportsmanship on and off the field as well as showing off their footballing talents and potential. Well done! We would also like to thank the staff that helped out with the refereeing and organisation of the various events and the many parents that turned out in the wet conditions to support the students.
Have a restful summer break and we look forward to seeing you all next year.
Well done everyone,
The Primary PE Team
