Home Learning

For your home learning tonight go to www.myimaths.com

login: bangpat

password : triangle.

My Portal… Your login in and password are on the letter we gave you today. Keep the letter somewhere safe. Email yourself the school and your own logins and passwords.

When you have logged in you will see two tasks set for you.

Do the 2D and 3D shape task first. I need to see that everyone has done this by Wednesday. The website will tell me this!

The multiplication task is optional, but would be good practise!

Times tables grids here:

Read All About It!! - BREAKING NEWS!!

Home Learning - due Thursday 26th

Read the news article here:

http://www.patana.ac.th/UploadCentre/Staff/BEHA/Blaze_Destroys_School.pdf and answer the questions in your red book. http://www.patana.ac.th/UploadCentre/Staff/BEHA/Questions.pdf

The (ficticious) article about the school fire is similar to the Humpty article below. The journalists doesn't say precisely who was to blame for the fire and Humpty's fall but they use inference to encourage you, the reader, to make a deduction.

THE HOMELESS MAN'S DILEMMA HAS HAPPENED AGAIN...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-24170670

Although maybe dilemma is the wrong way to describe these guys' actions as they, both very poor, found by chance something worth lot of money and they just knew the right thing to do was return it. Good luck in the future to Billy Ray and Glen.

Spend fifteen minutes reading the news articles from the websites below. You might know some other news websites for children. Choose two news stories that you are interested in. In your red home learning books note down the key information for each article.

What is the story about?

When did it happen?

Who is involved?

Where did it happen?

Why did it happen?

If the articles include a quotation, write these down as well.

Some interesting recent articles:

http://edition.cnn.com/2013/09/13/world/americas/atlantic-balloon-crossing-aborted/index.html?hpt=wo_t2 (lots of quotes just write down one)

My favourite story from last year:

Home Learning

In your books (not on the sheet) add together the amounts (money and some untis of measure) using the column method. Remember to use the grid in your books and line up the decimal points.

Extension - only do this if you are ready,we will be going over this in class later in the week.

For the first six money additions (a-f), work out how much change you would get for each amount from a 20 pound note.
