Maths Open Morning
Thank you all for joining us today for our Maths Open Morning! Your children really enjoyed sharing their learning with you and we hope it gave you a glimpse of the learning opportunities on offer to the students each day in the Foundation Stage.
Enjoy the photos..........

What a fantastic maths morning. I had a lovely time with Emily showing me around all the rooms and doing the activities.

Super Heroes and eggs.................an odd combination!!!
Week 3 of Term 2 has continued to be action packed and exciting in K2!
"Super Heroes" is the theme of the week. The students have enjoyed learning about who and what Super Heroes are and the kinds of special super-human powers they possess! A Super Hero Training School has been set up in the role play area. Masks, wrist bands and belts are being created over the course of the week by the children to add to the drama of their play. K2L have even created their own Class Super Hero. Each child had the opportunity to orally contribute their ideas which I scribed on their behalf. This will be posted in the coming days.
We also explored eggs this week by talking about them, holding them, throwing and catching them and...........cracking them.We thought of many ways in which we can "change" eggs. Cooking them was a popular choice. How many different ways can you cook an egg?

Eggs for tea, anyone?
I had a really fun week. I enjoyed learning about egg. I learnt that super heros can fly and had a great time making my mask.

Published on Friday, January 25, 2013 LikeI liked learning about eggs! Especially playing catch with them.
Published on Monday, January 28, 2013 Likeit looks like so much fun!!!
i wish i was in K2 again. :)
What has been happening in Week 2 of Term 2?
We have really enjoyed our focus on the well-known fairy tale, "The 3 Little Pigs" this week. We found many versions of this story in the Library which each had different illusrations and sometimes even different endings! So, we decided to make a few changes ourselves..........by changing the charcaters!
Here are a few examples of the ideas we came up with:
"The 3 Little Sharks"
"The 3 Little Kittens"
"The 3 Little Dogs"
"The 3 Little Butterflies"
"The 3 Little Rats".........and many, many more!
We also looked at the changes which occur when you make jelly. Vocabulary such as melting, dissolving, mixing, temperature, liquid and solid was used often this week. It was interesting to see the changes which happen when making jelly but the best part, by far, was tasting the delicious flavours each day. Raspberry is the most popular flavour, so far. But we haven't tasted lemon flavoured jelly yet.....that's cooling and setting in the fridge right now and will be ready tomorow!
Do you know that K2 are now having their swimming lessons in the 25m pool? The students have risen to the challenge and are so proud of this step. Well done, K2L, I am very proud of you all!
Enjoy the photos..........

What a fantastic week Emily has had. Not enough room to write it all down! Emily started the ECA on Wednesday and had a great time. Thank you everyone.

i love making jelly at home!!
We have been experimenting............
Our new focus area is "Change" and we have been finding out how, why and when different kinds of materials change. There have been a range of activities and experiments for the children to explore such as, melting chocolate to make Rice Krispie cakes, mixing milk and food colourings, creating our own erupting volcanoes, creating magical potions and dropping liquids on filter paper.
Ask you child how many activities they tried. Perhaps they could explain what they learned. These photos may prompt their memories.
Please support your child by scribing a comment on their behalf. We look forward to reading them next week!

I have had a fun week making colours and adding colours to make colours. There was some fizzy stuff from the volcano called lava. The best part was making a money potion.
