Art Week with Chinese calligraphy and brush painting

Year 4 Mandarin classes tried their hands at Chinese brush painting and calligraphy today as part of their Art Week learning.  Here are some pieces of wonderful work.

Colours

Year 4 Mandarin classes are learning a new topic: colours! We had fun today to sing the colour song and play colour game.  Here is the list of colours covered in this topic.

黑色hēisè  = black

白色báisè  = white


红色hóngsè  = red

黄色huángsè  = yellow

蓝色lánsè  = blue

绿色lǜsè  = green

粉红色fěnhóngsè  = pink

橙色chéng sè = orange

紫色zǐsè  = purple

棕色zōngsè  = brown

And here is the word for the colour song:

yǒu shénme yánsè, yǒu shénme yánsè, yǒu shénme yánsè?

With role play and ICT game, Year 4 Mandarin classes are learning to introduce the family members:

Māma= Mother

Bàba Father

Gēge= Elder Brother

Jiějie = Elder Sister

Dìdi = Younger brother

Mèimei = Younger Sister

Yéye = Grandfather (Father’s side)

Nǎinai = Grandmother (Father’s side)

Wàigōng = Grandfather (Mother’s side)

Wàipó = Grandmother (mother’s side)

“zhè shì这是” means “this is”.
“wǒde我的” means “ my / mine”

Now, how do you say “This is my father” ?   zhè shì wǒde bàba. (This is my dad)
