Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for such a wonderful year.

You have given me 180 school days when I have woken up looking forward to some crazy thing that we would be doing that day - whether it was eggciting parachutes, refugee camp building or pool parties.  I have enjoyed every minute.

I have also thoroughly enjoyed having the chance to get to know you all and, even though it has only been a year, to watch as you have grown and matured.  I know that you are ready for Secondary and am looking forward to hearing all about it in the new year.

Have an amazing summer!

Next week we will be thinking about the friendships and relationships that we have.  In order to prepare for that, I would like you to think about yourself as a friend, child, sibling, learning partner and student.  Write a short reflection of what you are like in each of these roles.  You can present this in the form of a poster, PPT, just as plain text or in a booklet.  It really is up to you HOW you present it.  Focus on what qualities you have in each of these roles and why.  This is NOT a home learning that you will be sharing with other students; your ideas and thoughts will remain private.  Please send or hand this directly to me.

Things to consider:

What is it like to be your friend?  How supportive are you?  How open-minded are you?  How flexible are you?  How kind are you?  Is there anything else that you think you do/don't do as a friend?

What is it like to be your brother/sister (if relevant)?

What is it like to be your parent?

What qualities do you have that make you a good learning partner?  Do you think there is anything that you need to improve?

What is it like to be your teacher?

I always knew friendship was not something random.

As we approach secondary school, we would like you to investigate the Year 6’s opinions about: “What we are most looking forward to about Year 7”.  I would also like to know if the opinions vary depending on gender and current Y6 class.

For Home Learning, you must design a survey which will allow you to collect this information in a clear and organised way.

What do you mean by design a survey?

It means a question which you can ask people and a way of collecting their responses in a logical way.

Do we need a graph? Or only the data?

Enither, the home learning only asks you to generate the survey i.e. create a chart which you can fill in easily when you are collecting your data.

End of Year Poem – 6L verses

Athletes walked to the starting line,

The kids cheered “Don’t go slow!”

The finish line came into sight,

Our friends yelled, “Go! Go! Go!”

The swimmers climbed onto their blocks,

Their hearts were full of fear

The whistle blew, the swimmers dived

The pool s-i-d-e was near!
