READING CUP

Published Wednesday, June 12, 2013.
Last updated: Wednesday, June 12, 2013

Today was the exciting first round of our Readers Cup! At the end of this blog post give us your feedback on the Readers Cup as a PMI (like you did after Victorian Day). Please comment on three positive things, three interesting things and three negatives (if you can think of any!) You can comment on both the book lists and how we have organised things so far. Thanks. Your feedback will help make a fantastic learning experience even better next year!

Comment By James 5w

1. The readers cup first round was good to test your brain to see if you knew the books questions answers.
2. The quiz was fun because you would have to work as a team to get the questions correct.
3. The beginning was well done because we sat in our classrooms with our team with the quiz and a horn went when we could start.
1. The quiz was hard and easy becuase some bits of the quiz were in the middle of the book or the beginning.
2. Sometimes the quiz would give you a question and you have to type down the answer and you might have to guess!
3. Talking to each other was a little bit difficult because if we say the answer aloud people will here and copy us!
No Negatives! :)

Positive

It was fun to read all those books which were in the readers cup.
It was all so really interesting because we were very competitive to go through the next round and not get eliminated.
It was also exciting when we had to plan to talk with out speaking so the other team wouldn't hear us so they couldn't steal our answer.

Negative

The bad part was when I wanted to read another book which wasn't in the readers cup but if we didn't read the books in the readers cup we could have got a disadvantage.

Interesting

It was really interesting when were competitive to win the gold trophy and get
Your group name carved on it.

It was interesting because usually you have write the answers on a piece of paper but this time we typed it .

Enjoyment

I enjoyed this quiz because we also got to do a practice quiz and a real quiz.
I also enjoyed it because i got improve the skill of reading not to fast and if you skipped anything that part could be in the quiz.

POSITIVE:
I think the readers cup was positive because it made me read more. It was good fun to have a competition and because I was on a team it made me not want to let the team down.
INTERESTING
I think the readers cup was interesting because it was interesting to know who was going to win. It was interesting that there was different types of books.
NEGATIVE
I think the readers cup was negative because no league table to tell who is 2nd and 3rd, and I think there was not enough books in the basket so you would have to borrow a book from a different class.

I really liked the reader’s cup because I liked the pressure of the other teams.

I also liked that I had read almost all the books and so I could make sure something that my other team members thought was right.

What was bad though was really depressing because it was that our computer did not work and so we thought that we were wasting so much of our time. Nothing else was bad.

READERS CUP WAS REALLY FUN!!!

P’s
I liked the readers cup was helping me a lot with my reading and persuaded me to read more.
Also because you got to try new books and new authors that you have never tried before.
I also liked the readers cup because you got to work as a team and communicate a lot.

M’s
I didn’t like the readers cup because you were worried that if you don’t finish the book on time and you were willing to win so you read the book to quickly and you didn’t even understand it.
Also because some books I didn’t really get.
And because some books you don’t want to read because you don’t really like it and your team forces you to.

I’s
I thought the readers cup was interesting because you got to read a variety of books.
Also because some of the books had movies and you could watch the movie and then you could read the book and see if they are the same or not.

The first quiz was quite hard but fun!
I found it interesting because it was just like a test but for a group and that we had to do it in silence ! If we wanted to talk we had to write it on a mini white board and show the group or whisper.
I found the questions interesting!
I cant beleive I made to the finals.
I found it hard to answer question 6!

I did not really like how some of the questions that they gave us were realy hard and the tables were so close together so the other tables can see what we were doing.

1: The positive bit of the readers cup was the online test because the test was a really easy question and most of them were a multiple choice question and the book I like the most is bridge to terabithia.

2: Minus bit of the readers cup is the final round because our buzzer is not loud so we couldn't answer every question.

3: It was interesting because all of the books and the question were a little bit hard and we all most forgot all the question.

Children of the Forest

A message from Mrs Sharp:

Ever thought about the difference a pair of shoes can make?  For the Children of the Forest a pair of shoes can be the difference between going to school or missing out on the opportunity to be educated and gain an identity.

Harper Cooper in 7T is collecting used school shoes so that more kids from Children of the Forest can go to school.

Please leave your used school shoes in the collection boxes at the front of school, near the transport office.

Also, a message from MR David don't forget to start collecting your 5 and 10 baht coins for Busking Day! Innocent

REMINDERS

Last updated: Thursday, May 23, 2013

Don't forget - interclass football is happening first thing on Monday morning. You have been given permission to come to school in your PE / football kit, but then PLEASE do not forget to pack your school uniform and your school shoes to change into later! (I will not be impressed if I have students walking around in studs all day!) It's going to be a fun tournament and I look forward to seeing all of your awesome sporting attitudes!

To play, you will need:

Football boots

Shin pads

Long Ssocks

PE Shorts

Class coloured shirts - Yellow

 Patana hat

Named water bottle – (You'll need it!)

Slap on lots of sun screen! Cool

Secondly, you need to be thinking about your 'act' for Busking Day, which is on WEDNESDAY 19TH JUNE.

Our slot on the hardcourt starts at 10am, after break.  Sign up sheets are in our classroom - you need to have added your name and any equipment you may need to borrow by Wed 29th May

Mr Sharp will be checking any musical performances from that date.  Other acts need to be seen by me first too, please. And Main Stage auditions take place on Wed June 5th.

Just a polite reminder: no foam (or other 'toxic' substances) or water. And no selling or services - performing only, please!

Here is a link to the PowerPoint you were shown in Mr Ben's assembly yesterday: http://www.patana.ac.th/UploadCentre/Staff/ABGI/Busking_Day_2013.ppt

Thirdly, please give your parents the permission slip for our Kidzania trip at the end of term. I need the replies back by Friday 31st May at the latest. Thanks.

Next, please keep reading your 'Reader's Cup' books over the long weekend and check out the library blog for more quizes and to add your own questions as comments... http://www.patana.ac.th/BPSnet/blog/index.asp?id=553

Lastly, here are some more Victorian facts and games to keep you occupied over the long weekend! Explore the painting and enjoy the links from the 2nd website (below).

Listen out to the different names of the jobs they did in the mines too...
