Within the Humanities faculty Business Studies is taught at Key Stage 4 and 5 as a two-year programme by four highly qualified members of staff.

IGCSE Business Studies and IB Business and Management are optional for students at Patana but both are popular choices. Exam results are impressive.

Both courses examine how the main types of business and commercial institutions are organised, financed and operated and students develop knowledge and appreciation of the real world of business. The importance of innovation and change are emphasised and a strong emphasis placed on the international aspect of business in the 21st century. Students develop an understanding of the role and purpose of business activity in the public and private sectors. Much of the work is based on case studies of companies based in Bangkok and overseas and we use the opportunities provided by our links with the local business community to give our students first-hand experience. Students are expected to research business problems and write detailed reports recommending solutions which form an important part of their final assessment.
