The essence of Design and Technology is the application of skills and knowledge
to solve problems, which arise from the needs of people and society.
In the Primary School Design and
Technology
has an educational foundation that develops both social and practical skills.
Students use a range of resistant materials and start to develop knowledge of
electronics, components and processes.
In the Secondary School, students are introduced to a range of projects, each
designed to develop particular skills from designing manufacturing processes,
graphics, electronics, mechanisms and control.
Year 10 students can opt for a range of IGCSE
Technology
courses, and will undertake, as part of their studies, a major project in an area
of their choice. Senior Students can study International Baccalaureate
Technology at Standard and Higher levels.
The Technology facilities at Patana are extensive, with fully equipped workshops
which incorporate modern processes, such as computer control, control and circuit
board production, as well as more traditional equipment.
Mission Statement "Design
and Technology at Bangkok Patana,
teaches children the equal
importance of the design, making and
evaluation processes. We expect our
children to develop these skills at
an appropriately challenging level,
using a wide range of tools,
materials and components in their
work."
