Frequently Asked Questions

General:

How do I know when to sign up for ECAs?

The sign up dates for ECAs are publicised on the website, in the school diary and also in the school newsletter.  Registration for term 1 is at the end of August and then it is at the end of term 1 for term 2 and end of term 2 for term 3.

What can I do if I miss the ECA Sign up?

If you miss the ECA sign up and registration has closed you will need to wait until Phase II opens.  When Phase II opens you can sign up to ECAs that have vacancies.
How do I find out which ECAs my child/ren have been accepted onto?

You can log on via the parents gateway after sign up has closed and confirmations are available.  You will not receive an email about this - it is up to you to look on line to see which ECAs your child/ren have been accepted onto.

Do I need to let my children's class teacher know what ECAs they have?

No.  Your child's teacher will be able to view what ECAs their whole class has. 

If you make changes after the  ECA programme has commenced for the term you should let your child's class teacher know via the red book.

Do I need to contact transport?

No - you do not need to contact transport to change bus times for ECAs.  This is automatically done. 

A new bus pass will be issued after ECAs have been confirmed.

If you cancel an ECA one week then you will need to also contact transport.

If you make an amendment after the ECA programme has commenced you should notify transport.

 

How do I organise a try out for tennis, swimming or gymnastics?

You will need to contact the Head Coach directly.  You can find out further information in regard to the programmes , trial times, commitment required and cost.

What equipment do I need?

You do not to take any equipment unless specified. 

Tennis rackets are supplied but students can take their own.

 If kit is available for your ECA eg. Football, Taekwondo, Kungfu, you can find out further information about obtaining the kit by contacting the ECA Instructor.

 

What does my child need to wear for their ECA?

For sport ECAs please wear PE kit or specialist kit if required.

For most other ECAs normal school kit should be worn.

 

Does my child need a sun hat?

All students participating in an outdoor ECA should wear a sports hat/cap.  Please put a named hat in your child's bag on these days.  This does not have to be a Patana sun hat - any sun hat will do.

 

Can I cancel an ECA for my child?

Yes you can cancel an ECA if your child does not enjoy an ECA.  You will need to contact:

How are ECA fees calculated?

There is termly administration fee of 500thb per student for any student who attends 1 or more ECA each term.

Where External Providers run an ECA the fee is calculated on a weekly rate per student.  ie. 300thb per week x 9 Fridays = 2700thb for the term.   or x 8 Mondays = 2400thb.

Where materials are required for the ECA there may be a fee allocated by the teacher to cover the cost of materials/ equipment for running the ECA for the term.

 

Will I be charged for the ECA if my child cancels?

If your child cancels within the first 2 weeks of the ECA programme the charge will be cancelled.  After this time the full ECA fee will be billed.

 

If an ECA is cancelled by school will I have to pay for that week?

If a fee paying ECA is cancelled due to the instructor being unavailable the billing will be amended accordingly. 

If school makes a decision to close or is forced to close by the Ministry of Education or other Government Body due to unforeseen circumstances there will be NO refunds for any ECAs missed during this time.

 

How do I pay for ECAs?

You do not need to pay for ECAs in advance.  You will be sent a school bill for the ECAs.

 

Primary Years 1 & 2: 1.50 - 2.30pm

How does my child know where to go on the first day of ECA?

You child's class teacher has a list of what each child is doing for their ECA.  Students in Year 1 & 2 are taken by their class teacher to the ECA meeting area where they will be handed over to the ECA teacher and then taken to the relevant ECA area/classroom.

 

Do I need to be there on the first day of ECA to help my child?

No.  Staff will help your child get to their ECA.

 

How will my child get to their bus after the ECA?

The ECA teacher/instructor will walk Yr 1 & 2 students to their bus monitor at the end of the ECA.

 

Where should I pick my child up from after the ECA?

If your child is not using the school bus service you should pick your child up from the room/ area that the ECA is held.  If you are running late your child will be taken to the area in the middle of the Year 1 block to await collection (this is opposite the Primary Office).

 

Primary: Years 3- 6: 2.30 - 3.45pm

How does my child know where to go on the first day of ECA?

You child's class teacher has a list of what each child is doing for their ECA.  Students in Year 3 - 6 will be told by their teacher where the ECA is being held.  Students will make their own way to the ECA locationNew students will be helped to find the venue.

Do I need to be there on the first day of ECA to help my child?

No.  Staff will help your child get to their ECA.

 

How will my child get to their bus after the ECA?

Students will make their own way to the bus area after their ECA like they do at the end of the school day.

Where should I pick my child up from after the ECA?

If your child is not using the school bus service you should pick your child up from the room/ area that the ECA is held.  If you are running late your child will be taken to the area in the middle of the Year 1 block to await collection (this is opposite the Primary Office).  The Primary Office has a list of locations of all ECAs if you are not sure where to go.

 

Secondary: Years 7-13: 2.30 - 3.45 / 4.30pm

Do I need to inform teachers/ instructors if I will be absent from my ECA?

Yes.  You should always inform your ECA teacher/ instructor if you will not be able to attend your ECA.  Especially if you know in advance you will not be able to attend eg. If you are involved in another school activity, attending an event, have a scheduled appointment. 

If you are absent due to sickness you do not need to inform your teacher/ instructor as you will be on the absentee list for the day.

 

How does the selective sports programme work?

Trial dates will be advertised to all students.  Please attend the trial dates (and inform your normal ECA teacher you will not be attending that week if necessary).  Students selected for the teams will be notified by the coach.  Amendments to your ECA schedule may need to be made if selected due to the training required for the selective sport.

Can I cancel an ECA if I get selected for a competitive sport

Yes - you can cancel your ECA and you should inform Mr Mike Balo Miba@patana.ac.th  about this change.  There will be no refund for the ECA unless the place can be filled by another student on the waiting list.
