Haiti follow up

Apart from the non-uniform fees collected in Secondary School students also ran a ‘guess the sweets in a jar’ competition, money was collected at the Patana Classic concert and the student-run Project Star organisation collected donated clothes and blankets on behalf of World Concern.

The Grand Total collected on the day was 130,830 baht which, along with US $2,000 that the Primary School donated from their Central Emergency Response fund, signifies an amazing response by Bangkok Patana School’s communities to this disaster.

140,000 baht has been transferred to ‘Partners in Health’, a charity group that has been working in Haiti for 20 years and works with Haitians to help provide a wide range of aid. The rest of the funds raised will be retained until later this year when a they will be contributed towards a rebuilding project in Haiti.

Lorna Tighe, Youth and Community Co-ordinator, spoke for the whole school when she said “thank you to all those who contributed to the success of this campaign, it is a wonderful to know that, as an international school, we have reacted quickly to these tragic events and are able to assist with Haiti’s recovery and its people’s safety.”
