The Crucible

‘You drank blood Abby! You drank a charm to kill John Proctor’s wife!’

'The Crucible’ tells the story of the Salem Witch Trials – a horrendous true event that saw many innocent people hanged for the crime of witchcraft. Salem was a repressed, religious society: clothing was plain, dancing and singing was forbidden and the only opportunity young people had to socialise was in Church. But although the children of Salem appear innocent and well behaved, beneath the surface they are quite quite different…

"The Crucible was an absolute triumph. The play deals with some complex issues like truth and integrity but these are cunningly woven into a compelling drama. The actors worked together so well and they created such tension on stage... I was gripped from start to finish."
