Can't the wood
cutters put their axes down?
And put a smile on their face when they frown?
Can't the sun come up?
And tell all weak people who smoke to "Stop"
Can’t the animal hunters stop poaching?
Then make them help animals grow?
Can't we make world peace!?

The Young
Writers' Club ECA is run for Years 4,5 and
6. Some children have been in writing club
for up to two years and there are some very
talented writers. Maybe we will be reading
their names on spines of books in bookshops
in the future. The children keep a writer's
notebook and can write in it any time they
want. Their notebooks are private and no one
is allowed to peek inside without
permission! Each week they sit in a circle
and the children are encouraged to read
their work aloud to the others. The other
writers give feedback which may be
questions, suggestions or praise. Then the
teacher, Ms Kathryn, provides some ideas to
stimulate the children's imagination, after
which the children write quietly. At the
end, if there is time, they share their
writing again.

A nonsense
poem
I am a fat boy
I don't have any joy
All the children tease me
And I love the small bee!
Once ........
It stung me on my tummy,
When I was holding my small dummy
It left a gummy which said
"mummy ...Mummy...mummy"
I had a closer look
It said an old book
I got angry with that
And I saw a bat!!!!!
Aghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!
