The Last Post ...

... the end has arrived and although we have known it has been coming, it is still a surprise that it is here so quickly! The children have had a fantastic last week of term, with a party, a football tournament (check out the main Patana webpage for photos), their own Leavers Assembly and then the Campus Assembly with the whole school.

All that is left for us to do now is to wish you all a safe and enjoyable holiday with your family and friends and to say that we will look forward to seeing those of you returning to Patana in August.

"Over and out" from the Year 2 Team - it has been a blast!

Welcome to the Last Week!

What a wonderful Sleepover we all had last week - check out the blogs for some great photos to remember the event by.

We are now entering the final week of term, when the children will be at the end of their time with us in Year 2 - we have had an excellent year and will be very sad to wave the children off as they 'go' to Year 3. They have been a fabulous year group and we will have many fond memories our time together. However, they are ready for the challenges ahead and we know that they will do themselves and you all proud over the course of next year.

This week is going to be a very busy one as there are lots of special events for the children to get excited about and to look forward to. Please keep checking the Red Books for further details.

Tuesday - Year 2 End of Year Party Day

Wednesday - Year 2 World Cup Football Tournament on the back field

Thursday - Year 2 Leavers' Assembly in the Theatre

Friday - Campus Assembly in the Sports Hall

Wow!

Have a great last week!

Kind regards,

The Year 2 Team.

Sleepover - final reminder!

There are lots of very excited children [and a few adults] around Year 2 at the moment as tomorrow is the night that many have been waiting for all year. Yes, it is the Sleepover!!

Please can all children come to school in their uniform for a normal school day [including ECAs]. In the morning, all children will be allowed to come to their classrooms and drop their belongings off before going out to play. Please don't forget to have named all of their belongings and to keep things  as light as possible as they will be responsible for moving them from their classrooms to the Sports Hall.

On Friday morning the children are to be collected between 8am - 8.30 am from their sleeping areas in the Sports Hall. You will have received a letter in your child's red book explaining exactly where. Please don't forget to collect a permission slip from your class teacher so that you can leave school with your child. Finally, don't forget to inform your class teacher if you are arranging for your child to be picked up by someone other than Mum or Dad.

Keep your eyes on the class blogs for updates and possible photos. Not long to go now :-)

Week 5

What a wonderful Swimming Gala we all had last week - all of the children were superstars and did their very best. It was a wonderful occasion. Thank you to all of the parents who were able to come along and support their children; you made for a fabulous atmosphere!

This week is the week of our BIG move and by the end of it we shall have vacated our present classrooms and be residing in our temporary ones. We shall look forward to watching the transformation of the new Year 1 and 2 building take place.

We are also sharing in a learning experience with the Year 1 children at their Thai Temple Fair on Tuesday - please send your children to school with their 1, 2, 5 and 10 Baht coins ready to spend and support the Year 1 charities.

Something else for the children to look forward to is the raising of the flag at the front of school each morning. The details are as follows:

Please read the charity message about a shoe appeal for the Children of the Forest:

Dear Parents,

This is a reminder of the appeal which was detailed in the Patana News of Friday, 25th April, to both Primary and Secondary parents, to send in unwanted school and sports shoes to help the children of COF to get to school and play their sports.

Children of the Forest is a registered Thai foundation that aims to provide protection, education, healthcare, and opportunities to stateless Karen and Mon children and mothers living in the Thai-Burma border region of Sangkhlaburi.

Donations can be deposited in the boxes marked ‘Children of the Forest shoe donations' at the front of school from Tuesday, May 6th.

These shoes will be delivered to Children of the Forest at the end of term.

Many thanks for your generous help with this appeal.

A week gone already!

The only problem with Term 3 is that it always goes way too quickly! We have already had our electricity entry point show, ECAs start on Monday and we have our Swimming Gala coming up in just under 3 weeks. There is the Year 1 Thai Temple Maths Fair to support (the children will remember making all of the games to play last year if they were here in Year 1) and then of course we have our big move to look forward to towards the end of May. Best of all though, there is the Year 2 Sleepover on the penultimate Thursday of term ... as you can see there is so much to do alongside all of our learning that perhaps it is no surprise that the time is just speeding on by. As the old saying goes, time flies when you are having fun!
