U’11 Girls BISAC Tee Ball 2010

Will we, wont we, will we, wont we, yes we will! A sigh of relief as we set off on Saturday to participate in the U’11 girls BISAC Tee ball Tournament which took place at Bromsgrove School . “Sport for All” is one of our primary PE goals and so BPS was able to field 3 teams consisting of students who had attended Tee ball ECA in term 2 and some talent scouted students from year 5.
The Patana Tigers team were in Pool A and got off to a flying start easily winning their first game. Patana Black and Patana Orange were both in Pool B together. Patana Black lost their opening game to Harrow ‘A’ by 1 point but it was a very encouraging sign for this team which contained some of our year 4 girls. The next match saw Patana Blacks meet Patana Orange. The game was very tight until the lightning and thunder rolled in. Play was halted for safety reasons for an hour but luckily the storm passed and the games resumed. This was the first Tee ball competition for many in the Patana Orange team and although they eventually lost this and their next match they have gained valuable competition experience for the future. At the end of the pool games both Patana Tigers and Patana Black had advanced to the semi final stage.
Patana Black met hot favourites RIS. In a close games Patana Black just went down and then finished fourth in their next play off against Harrow A. Even though they lost the semi final Patana Black girls demonstrated their best skills and teamwork in that game. Sinead Bushell 4E was focused and determined when batting whilst Christine Smits 4W long throws and fielding were superb.
Patana Tigers met Harrow A in their semi final. After a sluggish start their teamwork and excellent base running skills kicked in and they controlled the game to ensure a win and advance to the grand final. Here we met RIS. In the group stage RIS and Patana Black had drawn so the final was always going to be close match. RIS were a well drilled team but after the first innings Patana Tigers were ahead by 1 run. RIS made some great catches in the second innings and although Angelina Siddons 6B tonked a huge hit as last batter it was only enough to bring us even. Sudden death third innings was upon us. The humidity, heat and tiredness was taking its toll and we managed 3 runs to RIS 6 in the third innings. The girls tried hard but it wasn’t to be our day. I was very proud of how we played and the spirit of good sportsmanship the girls played it in.
Thank you to Miss Fiona, Khun Patcharee and Mr Tatam for coaching the teams and to all of our parents for their support.
