Key Stage 2 Interclass Footballers Turn On The Sizzle And Style At Their 2010 Tournaments

Key Stage 2 classes have just completed their two hours of football fun in the sun. On Monday 30th June, Year 5 and 6 classes divided themselves into girls, boys and mixed teams and played at least 4 matches to see who would enjoy the title of champions. The students demonstrated some of the great passing, tackling and shooting skills they have been learning in their PE lessons and from the many outside of school opportunities available to them.  Alas there can only be 1 winner in events such as these but all of our children were encouraged to do their best and to enjoy the event regardless of where they may have finished. They certainly did just that and great sportsmanship was on display on all of the 6 pitches with everyone trying their best. The final results were:-

Year 5: boys – 5B; mixed – 5R; girls – 5M; overall champions – 5M

Year 6: boys – 6H; mixed – 6H; girls – 6P; overall champions – 6H

Tuesday 1st June saw Year 3 compete in their very first Interclass Football competition. There were some classy players and the future of football at Patana looks bright. The students learnt many lessons, especially those of teamwork, positional play and using space.  The year 4 competition was very, very close with great depth of talent especially in the girls competition which went down to a nail biting penalty shootout with 4M just edging out 4E. The results were:

Year 3: boys – 3S; mixed – 3R; girls – 3C; overall champions – 3R

Year 4: boys – 4E; mixed – 4M; girls – 4M; overall champions – 4E

Once again all of our Year 3 and 4 students deserve much praise for their sportsmanship on and off the field as well as showing off their footballing talents and potential. Well done!

The PE department would like to thank all the parents and fellow colleagues for their support and help in refereeing. Finally we would once again like to thank all the students for your energy, good sportsmanship and great football.

Next up is Interclass Basketball in Term 1 next year so practise shooting those hoops!
