The extent to which Bangkok Patana School students are able to find fulfilment across the wide range of Extra - Curricular Activity (ECA) we offer is one of the school’s greatest strengths and most unique aspects. In Secondary, the range of extra-curricular activities available broadens in scope and increases in depth, allowing students to explore new interests while at the same time honing and developing existing skills.
Each term the ECA listing is available via the Parents’ Gateway. Below is just a small selection of the activities available:
Two particular internationally-recognised programmes which thrive at Bangkok Patana School are the International Award and the Model United Nations. The International Award is known in the UK as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and is a challenging personal development programme for young people. The Award is very well recognised internationally and requires a high degree of commitment from those involved. Students usually take four years to complete all Bronze, Silver and Gold levels and participate in a wide range of activities including adventurous journeys. For most students the adventurous journeys are the highlight and students have kayaked, cycled or trekked in a variety of locations including Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
The Model United Nations is based on the United Nations in New York. Students follow similar processes and engage in energetic and lively debate and negotiation, and the framing of resolutions. High levels of background research, knowledge of current events and historical awareness are part of the process. Students from Bangkok Patana School have been enthusiastically participating since 1998, and as well as hosting several conferences have attended those held in Brunei, Cairo and Beijing.
