Bangkok Patana School recognises that individual students bring differing qualities to the school and learn in different ways. Our sports programme provides students with opportunities for developing the fundamental characteristics of commitment, loyalty, selflessness, determination, cooperation, leadership and an appreciation of the role and value of the individual and the group.
Participation in sports can be an integral part of a student's educational experience, and Bangkok Patana School attempts to provide extra curricular sports opportunities for all students who wish to participate. Bangkok Patana School offers up to five levels of team sports: U11, U13, U15, U17 (Junior Varsity) and U20 (Varsity) teams (dates as of Aug 2008) plus comprehensive age-group opportunities in the gymnastic, swimming and tennis programmes.
Bangkok Patana is very proud of its strong sports programme and the Bangkok Patana 'Tigers' (our school sports emblem) are a familiar sight at sports tournaments both locally and throughout South-East Asia. In addition to sport being available through the curriculum in Physical Education and as a key component of the Extra-Curricular Activities programme, the school also has a competitive selective sports programme.
The competitive sports programme endeavours to provide for as many sports as can reasonably be supported and are offered by the organisations of which the school is a member: Bangkok International Schools Athletic Conference (BISAC), South East Asia Students Activity Conference (SEASAC) and the Federation of British International Schools in South and East Asia (FOBISSEA). The school year is split into three seasons (each approximately eight weeks in length) and provides regular, competitive sport for teams of all ages.
