Overview

The Physical Education Curriculum provides all of our children with continuous opportunities to improve and develop their personal skills and performance across a wide range of sports and activities. Our curriculum is supported by many further opportunities, to extend and participate in a wide range of sporting activities through the many ECAs offered, inter-class competitions and competitions and festivals with other schools within Bangkok and further afield around South-East Asia. Our Primary PE ethos of 'Sport for All, Striving for Excellence' is one that we aim to support whole heartedly so that all of our students have the opportunity to get the most from their PE lessons and sporting ECAs.

The Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 (Nursery to Year 2) curriculum focuses on the introduction and development of many new skills and understanding in dance, gymnastics, swimming, ball skills and basic game play situations. The highlights of their sporting calendar are their much anticipated Sports Mornings (from K1) and Swimming Galas (from K2) when the children take part in multiple individual and team events in an atmosphere of participation and friendly competition with their peers.

The Key Stage 2 (Year 3 to 6) curriculum is challenging and diverse including teaching units in swimming, basketball, football, athletics, Tee-ball, mini tennis, volleyball, T.G.F.U, outdoor and adventure activities, dance and gymnastics. Our students all take part in the annual Swimming Galas and Sports Days as well as Inter-Class  Tournaments at the end of each of their basketball, Tee-ball and football curriculum units. Other sporting events on offer include the Aquathlon in Term 1 where children time each other for a run and swim fitness challenge. In Term 2 those students who enjoy athletics can also attend our Record Breakers meet where they can challenge their personal best performances and school records in a wide range of running, jumping and throwing events.

Our students have a tremendous number of opportunities within their Physical Education lessons and in the extra curricular arena here at Bangkok Patana to participate and excel in a wide variety of activities both locally and internationally. They certainly take full advantage of those opportunities and reward the dedication of our excellent P.E. teachers and coaches with consistently high quality performances. It is hoped that all children will have enjoyed their Physical Education experiences with us and are motivated and prepared to be “fit for life” even when Bangkok Patana School is only a fond memory.
