Changemaker Awards in Year 6
Future Change Makers
Year 6 students have been celebrating the achievements of individuals around the would who have tried to make the world a better more sustainable place.
Their initial learning about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reflections about what they feel most passion about provided the catalyst for research. The children used their own passions to research the life and achievements of someone who inspires them. These ranged from Jane Goodall (SDG 15: Life on Land) to Martin Luther King (SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities) and Jaques Cousteau (SDG 14: Life Under Water).
Students used their research to create wonderful audible podcasts or a visual TED Talk to tell the world about the wonderful Change Makers. The result of these projects were testament to the children’s tenacity, motivation and passion for the SDGs.
To celebrate these achievements, students dressed in their most formal clothes and walked the red carpet to the 3rd Annual Bangkok Patana Change Maker Awards. Here, we heard excerpts of some of the most inspirational podcasts and Ted Talks and award Oscars for creativity, originality and motivation.
It was a lovely way to end an inspirational topic. Who knows, there may be a group of children who will write about one of these children when they become Change Makers too!
