Drama and Well-Being
Exploring Emotions
Year 8 embarked on a collaborative project in Term 3 between Drama and Well-Being to create an immersive theatrical experience to explore emotions. Each class was given an emotion from Inside Out 2: ennui, envy, anger, sadness, disgust, anxiety, fear and embarrassment.
The class spent time exploring what made them feel these emotions and how theatre techniques such as lighting, visual effects, sound and props could be used to evoke these emotions in an audience. The final product was a promenade theatre experience through different rooms and spaces in the Arts Building. After studdnts experienced the eight different spaces, the Year group came together and each student shared on a slide what gave them joy, the ninth emotion from Inside Out 2.
edThe students also review the Zones of Regulation, a framework to help people identify when their emotions are getting out of control and when they might need to ask for help. This was the first time for such a project, and with the great feedback from students, we are looking forward to continuing with it in the future!
