Grease the Musical!

Congratulations to the entire Grease team for an outstanding production!

From auditions in late August to the first rehearsal on 2nd December, your dedication and hard work truly paid off. A special shoutout to the incredible 88 cast members, who brought the story to life with passion and energy. The four talented students in the band added the perfect musical backdrop, bringing the vibrant 50s rock ‘n’ roll vibe to the stage. And of course, the 12-member crew, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, ensuring every detail ran smoothly.

In total, over 100 students were involved in making this show a success!

Laura Glanowski, Artistic Director reflected on her creative vision for the show. “Welcome to Rydell High School in 1950s America to the age-old story of high school romance, boy meets girl and the gossip that surrounds it. Whilst some of the messages in Grease may not be politically correct for our today, many of the themes stay the same for any generation. Therefore, we wanted to honour the time period, the licensee’s stipulations and the playwright’s original intentions by avoiding any changes to fit modern day. When choosing Grease, many people spoke to me of the joy, excitement and nostalgia that Grease incites – a place where high school dances and Rock ‘n Roll are about living in the moment and in our memories.”

David Place, Music Director recalled fond memories and the timeless appeal of this beloved story, “I am certain that you will love the vibrant energy and catchy rock ‘n’ roll tunes that have made Grease a cultural phenomenon for over 50 years. The songs, the dancing, the unforgettable characters—it all comes together to create an experience that will transport you back to the carefree days of the 1950s, while reminding us all of the enduring power of friendship, love and a little bit of rebellion.”

If you haven’t had the chance to watch it, quickly run to Secondary Arts office – grab your tickets (last few) and enjoy the fabulous performance by our students!
