Year 12, are you ready?
Peer to Peer Information Sharing Session
There was a productive and engaging atmosphere in the Conference Centre as Year 13s led the information-sharing session with the Year 12s. The purpose of the morning was to bring both year groups together and facilitate meaningful discussions about the IB programme and the university application process.
Year 12 students had the opportunity to ask practical questions about key components of the IB, such as the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Internal Assessments, while also learning about the various career pathways being pursued by Year 13 students. In turn, Year 13 students shared their experiences of the IB so far, discussing both the challenges and the rewards.
With students rotating around the room, a variety of perspectives were exchanged, providing Year 12 with valuable insights and advice. A key message that emerged—particularly around the Extended Essay was the importance of meeting deadlines and using the summer break effectively to make progress.
The session allowed for open, honest conversations and gave Year 12 students a clearer understanding of what lies ahead, while Year 13 students were able to reflect on their own journeys and pass on their knowledge.
As Year 12 now begin to focus on their Extended Essays, the most common advice still stands: ‘Don’t miss your EE deadlines and get as much done over the summer as you can!’
Over to you, Year 12!
