Investigating Micro-organisms

Year 6 are currently studying micro-organisms and the abiotic elements that they need to thrive. A recent visit to the Outdoor Classroom gave the students the opportunity to explore different conditions within an ecosystem, and how these impact on the micro-life found there.

Collecting soil samples from various locations within the Outdoor Classroom made students start the consider both the similarities in the sampling and also how they were different. The Year 6s began to question the impact of light, water, amount of biotic matter decaying etc on the ecosystem. We are very lucky to have such a valuable resource here at Bangkok Patana as it certainly does bring Science to life.
