Kliptown Visits Bangkok Patana

A culmination of Learning, Well-Being and Global Citizenship

This week it was a pleasure to welcome the Kliptown Youth Program (KYP) back to Bangkok Patana. KYP is a community based educational organisation that provides support and opportunities to people from disadvantaged backgrounds in Soweto, South Africa. Their visit to Bangkok featured the performing arts programs and offered rich cultural and learning experiences for both our students at Patana but also the KYP students who took part in the tour.

Gumboot dancing, Afro-fusion rhythms, drumming and songs all featured in their lively and engaging sessions. The visit included opportunities for large parts of the school community including a fabulous parent workshop, sessions for year 6 students, secondary drama lessons and bespoke sessions for our dance academy. The lunchtime performance on the secondary hardcourt was a particular highlight with hundreds of students attending an informal event which demonstrated the power of the arts to bring communities together and build cultural connections.
