It’s All About the Light!
Year 3 explore the world of Light
This half term, Year 3 students have been diving into the fascinating world of light during their Science lessons. They were fortunate enough to take their learning beyond the classroom with an exciting visit to the Secondary School’s Science labs. There, they were treated to a series of captivating demonstrations by Khun Turbo, our Science technician, who brought the concepts of light to life.
The children were captivated as Khun Turbo began by using a laser and a smoke box to show how light travels in a straight line. Next, they witnessed the magic of refraction as he used a glass prism and a torch to bend light rays, creating a beautiful rainbow before their eyes.
The fun continued outside, where the students worked hands-on with solar panels, lightbulbs, wires and fans to experiment with building circuits. Their problem-solving skills shone as they eagerly connected the components, all while confidently using scientific language. To top off the experience, the students raced solar-powered toy cars on the rooftop.
The students left the session in awe, thrilled to see their classroom learning come to life in such a dynamic way.
By the way… Where do bad rainbows go? (They go to Prism!) They get a light sentence though, it’s only so they can have time to reflect!
