Patana Pathways – Ansh
A changemaker in the making …
‘Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) for an 18 year old? You must be kidding me!’. This was the initial reaction Ansh had to battle with from his family members comprising of computer engineers and film makers. As any changemaker and pragmatic politician would do, Ansh finally managed to convince his family to the idea of pursuing PPE.
Ansh’s Patana Pathway started four years ago and in that span of time he started the Philosophy club along with his friends, wrote articles for The Union – an interscholastic newspaper run by students in Bangkok, ran the Debate club at Bangkok Patana and was also part of MUN (Model United Nations). Ansh reflects on how much he enjoyed being a part of these clubs especially MUN and the Debate club where he was able to challenge and give his perspective on varying topics. “MUN was a great social morale booster and it also helped me gain confidence in public speaking” said Ansh. For his Math IA (Internal Assessment) , Ansh analysed the statistics on the probability of political parties winning the election in the UK and may have predicted the Labor party’s win!
Growing up, Ansh wanted to pursue Computer Science just like other family members, but it was only in Year 10 after joining Patana he realised his passion for Economics. From then on, there was no looking back. “Thai Economics was definitely my starting point as I was intrigued about the political system and the issues behind it, the deeper underlying philosophy that perpetuates these cycles; and that’s where PPE came in as the perfect trio to learn more” reflected Ansh on how it all started.
Ansh recieved offers from the University of Warwick, the University of Edinburgh, University of York, Utrecht University and Durham University. He has chosen University of Warwick to pursue Philosophy, Politics and Economics.
Wishing you the best Ansh!
