Rodney Poole Returns for Candid Drug Prevention Talks

How to make healthy life choices

Last week, we welcomed Rodney Poole back to the Bangkok Patana community. As an international drug prevention educator, Rodney works with young people to support them in making healthy choices. With firsthand experience of addiction and recovery, he brings a unique perspective that makes his message both credible and relatable. His engaging approach provides students with real role models for a happy, healthy, drug-free life.

Our long-standing relationship with Rodney means many students remember him from previous visits, helping to create a comfortable space for open discussions. Rather than lecturing, Rodney shares and explores the latest research on drug use and its effects on the teenage brain and body — a method that has proven to be far more effective.

Rodney led workshops for Years 9 and 10, presented to Year 8, and hosted drop-in Q&A sessions for Years 7, 12 and 13. He also delivered training for Secondary staff and led a parent workshop, sparking valuable conversations across the school community. Feedback from students, staff, and parents has been overwhelmingly positive.

It has been an impactful and insightful few days, and we look forward to welcoming Rodney back next year.
