Cultivating Passion Through Our Secondary PE Curriculum

Secondary PE

At the heart of our school’s educational philosophy lies a commitment to developing well-rounded individuals who embrace physical activity as a lifelong pursuit. Our Secondary PE curriculum across Years 7-13 creates a progressive pathway to health and fitness, offering students a diverse range of experiences designed to inspire, challenge and engage.

World-Class Facilities Supporting Exceptional Learning

Our excellent facilities serve as the foundation for our comprehensive programme. From our huge sports hall and fully equipped fitness suite to our meticulously maintained playing fields and 50m swimming pool, these spaces provide the perfect environment for students to explore various physical activities. The recently renovated tennis complex further enhances our year-round tennis provision throughout Secondary school.

A Curriculum Building Lifelong Participation

Years 7-9 explore a wide breadth of activities including team sports (basketball, volleyball, football, rugby), individual pursuits (athletics, swimming, personal fitness), outdoor adventure (kayaking, mountain biking, climbing), and racquet sports (tennis, badminton, pickleball). This exposure helps students discover activities that resonate with their individual interests.

As students’ progress to Years 10-11, they can pursue (I)GCSE PE, while Years 12-13 are offered Sports Exercise and Health Science as a Group 4 Science in the IBDP, where students study sports nutrition, psychology, anatomy and body systems.

Our Year 10-11 and Senior Studies students enjoy engaging weekly PE sessions including dance, zumba, yoga, tennis in our new facility, fun games in the Sports Hall , climbing, weight training and table tennis – ensuring participation remains enjoyable, relevant to their lives and stress reducing.

Building Skills for Life

Beyond physical techniques, our curriculum emphasises transferable skills including leadership, teamwork, resilience and strategic thinking. Students regularly develop these qualities in authentic contexts throughout their secondary journey. Through this thoughtfully designed curriculum pathway, we aim to spark a lasting enthusiasm for physical activity that extends far beyond school years, setting students on a lifelong path to health, well-being and active futures.
