The Solo Theatre Performance
Celebrating Our Grad ’25 IBDP Theatre Students
Congratulations to our Grad ’25 IBDP Theatre students who have completed the final performance of their IB Theatre course; The Solo Theatre Performance.
The Solo Theatre project is a culmination of the students learning in IB Theatre, where they put together the context of all their knowledge and understanding as an actor, director, creator, designer and spectator, in a one person show. Students must choose a theatre theorist and create a piece based on one aspect of theatre theory.
The performance is supported by a written report, in which the students have to research a theatre theorist in depth, understand their overarching theatre theory and specific aspects within the theory. The performance entails gaining detailed feedback from their audience to ensure that their intentions are clearly coming through in their piece and this forms the final part of the report.
Our students chose a vast range of theorists to explore including Antonin Artaud, Pina Bausch, Samuel Beckett, Tatsumi Hijikata, Tadeusz Kantor, Jacques Lecoq, Joan Littlewood, Katie Mitchell and Julie Taymor. This range presented a variety of contrasting performances for our IB Students and invited audience – which demonstrates the depth and breadth that you can study at IB Theatre.
Well done again to our IB Theatre students!
